Lily's Story
On January 24, 2023, I made a trip to labor and delivery to get checked out for decreased fetal movement and got the worst news of my life; “There’s no heartbeat”. The next day on January 25, 2023, our daughter Lily Josephine was born sleeping at 10:15am weighing 4lbs 6.5oz – at 34 weeks gestation. She was beautiful and even more perfect than we could have ever imagined.
I had a completely normal pregnancy with no health complications. We couldn’t understand how something like this could possibly happen. The pathology report came back with no significant findings. We reached out to Dr. Harvey Kliman at Yale Medical for a second opinion. After reviewing our case we discovered Lily had died from a small placenta which was caused by a genetic issue.
The initial days after Lily's death were very difficult and brought a flood of emotions but mostly loneliness. It is hard to imagine that anyone could understand what you are going through. It was during this time that I connected with the Adalyn Rose Foundation. I received a memory box that included books, a journal and other mementos. Chloe reached out to me directly and I immediately felt a sense of comfort. We have been a part of the ARF community ever since and were able to work together to donate a remembrance cart to Moses Taylor Hospital in Lily's memory.
All proceeds from Links for Lily will be donated directly to the Adalyn Rose Foundation to cover bereavement and memorial services for loss families. We are so proud to be able to do this in Lily's honor and we are very excited to not only spread awareness, but to also bring the community together for a very special event!
